Campbellsville High School girls’ and boys’ bowling teams participated in this year’s region tournament on Friday, Jan. 29, and Saturday, Jan. 30, in Elizabethtown.
After qualifying in 10th place, the girls’ team defeated Russell County in the first round of tournament action before falling to cross town rival Taylor County in the quarter finals.
CHS junior Vera Brown paced Campbellsville in the qualifying round with a 155, followed closely by her sister Vivian Brown, a sophomore, with a 123. Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Shallan Philpott tallied a 122 in the qualifying round.
Members of the girls’ bowling team are senior Morgan Milby, junior Vera Brown, sophomores Vivian Brown and Haley Fitch and eighth-grader Shallan Philpott.
The CHS boys’ team qualified in eighth place for the tournament. Though the team fought hard, it came up just short against Green County in the first round of tournament action.
CHS junior Logan Brown paced CHS in the qualifying round with a 255, high game for any player in the tournament, followed by senior Micah Price with a 176, eighth-grader Dalton Brown with a 160 and eighth-grader Gavin Johnson with a 139.
The boys’ bowling team consists of senior Micah Price, juniors Logan Brown and Murphy Lamb, freshmen Brody Weeks and Brandon Greer, eighth-graders Gavin Johnson, Dalton Brown and Patrick Walker and seventh-graders Noah Mardis and Jake Dicken.
