Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · CHS track team wins at Heartland Conference meet

Campbellsville High School track team competed at the Heartland Conference meet in Green County on Thursday, April 14, and brought home several awards.

CHS competed against Green, Marion, Adair, Washington and Taylor counties.

In the girls’ races, Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader Taliyah Hazelwood finished first in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200.

Eighth-grader Isis Coleman was fifth in the 100-meter dash.

In the 4×100 race, eighth-graders Jasmine Coro, Isis Coleman and Taliyah Hazelwood and CHS freshman Lauren Williams finished second.

Seventh-grader Deja Charles finished the 400-meter dash in fourth place.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Chloe Gupton finished fifth and freshman Christa Riggs was sixth.

In the 1600-meter run, eighth-grader Zoe McAninch was fourth.

And in the 4×800 race, seventh-grader Deja Charles, eighth-grader Zoe McAninch and freshmen Chloe Gupton and Christa Riggs finished second.

Overall, the girls’ team finished in fifth place.

For the boys’ team, CHS junior Logan Brown placed third in discus and sixth in shot put.

Austyn Thornton, a junior, was second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump.

CHS freshman Daesean Vancleave finished fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Jake Despain, a senior, finished sixth in the 1600-meter run.

CHS freshman Evan McAninch was third in the 300-meter hurdles and sophomore Christian Berry finished fourth.

CHS freshman Ian McAninch finished the 3200-meter run in fourth place.

In the 4×100, eighth-grader Matthew Oliver, freshmen Daesean Vancleave and Dakota Reardon and junior Austyn Thornton finished in third place.

In the 4×400 race, eighth-grader Matthew Oliver, freshmen Devon Reardon and Joe Pipes and sophomore Christian Berry were third.

And in the 4×800, freshman Evan McAninch, Ian McAninch and Joe Pipes and senior Jake Despain finished third.

Overall, the boys’ team finished in fourth place.

CHS track coaches are Katie Wilkerson and Steve Doss.

The team will compete again on Friday, May 6, at Green County High School.
