Multiple Teams · CHS girls’ basketball coach named 5th region Coach of the Year

Campbellsville High School girls’ basketball head coach Anthony Epps has been named the 2016-2017 5th region Coach of the Year.

The 5th Region Basketball Coaches Association recently made the announcement.

All girls’ head basketball coaches in the 5th region voted for the Coach of the Year honor.

Epps shares the title with John Hardin’s head coach Caleb Smith.

Epps, who just completed this first season as CHS girls’ head basketball coach, led the team to an 18-11 record, which is the first winning season for the Lady Eagles in more than 15 years.

Last season, Epps was an assistant CHS boys’ basketball coach, under head coach Tim Davis.

Epps has had much success as a basketball player and coach.

He won a Kentucky state championship as a player in 1993 and as a coach in 2013, both at Marion County High School.

Epps was the starting point guard during his junior and senior years at the University Kentucky, and led the team to two NCAA championship games, winning the title in 1996.
