Campbellsville High School baseball team lost a close game in the first round of the fifth region tournament.
CHS took on Nelson County on Monday, May 29, at Marion County High School.
Final score was 6-7.
CHS led going into the bottom of the fifth inning, by a score of 6-5, but Nelson County added two to the scoreboard and that would be enough to get the win.
Ethan Lay, a junior, and sophomore Treyce Mattingly led the Eagles with two hits each. Lay also had two RBIs.
CHS sophomore Lane Bottoms had a single and three RBIs. Jackson Hinton, a sophomore, added a single.
Campbellsville Middle School eighth-grader John Orberson reached base three times, and CHS sophomore Ryan Kearney reached twice with walks.
CMS eighth-grader Arren Hash pitched for the Eagles, with seven strike outs.
The loss ends the season, with the Eagles finishing with a 14-17 worksheet.
The game was the last for two seniors, Zack Bottoms and Jared Brewster.
CHS sophomore Treyce Mattingly was named to the all-tournament team.
