Campbellsville High School soccer team recently made history.
CHS defeated Bardstown on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to capture the All “A” fifth region championship.
This is the first time the CHS soccer team has won the championship title.
Final score was 3-2, in overtime.
CHS junior Daniel Johnson and senior Ethan Lay scored for the Eagles, and the second half ended in a tie at two goals.
In overtime, CHS freshman Blase Wheatley scored the winning goal.
CHS will play in the All “A” state sectional game on Monday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m. for a chance to advance to the All “A” state tournament.
The Eagles will travel to Louisville to take on Holy Cross, which won the All “A” sixth region championship title.
The winner of the match up will advance to the final eight in the All “A” state tournament, set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, in Frankfort.
After coming back to Campbellsville last Wednesday night, the team gathered with family and friends to eat a meal together at Creek Side Restaurant.
