Campbellsville High School boys’ golf team is the ninth best team in the state.
The team competed in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and Wednesday, Oct. 4.
After the first round on Tuesday, the CHS team finished in the Top 13 teams to advance to the second round. The CHS team scored a 319.
In the second round, the CHS team also scored a 319, to finish with 638 strokes.
CHS senior Alex Doss led his team, with a 148, which earned him 15th place.
Layton Hord, a junior, finished with a 155, and tied for 44th place.
CHS senior Connor Wilson finished with a 163, which tied for 68th place.
Myles Murrell, a junior, finished at 172, which earned him 77th place.
And Kameron Smith, a freshman, finished his first state tournament at a 188, in 82nd place.
There were 85 players competing in the second round.
CHS was the runner-up in this year’s KHSAA fourth region tournament, which advanced the team to the state tournament.
The team also competed in the state tournament last year, for the first time since 1977, and finished in 14th place.
