Campbellsville High School football season begins next month, and players are working hard during summer practices to prepare.

The team had a historic season last year, and coach Dale Estes has 26 players who would like a repeat.

Last season, CHS defeated Crittenden County in the third round of state playoffs to win its second region championship in a row.

This was the first time the Eagles won the region championship on their home field, and the first time the team won a region championship in back-to-back years.

The region championship win was the fourth in program history.

This year’s team boasts 11 senior players.

They include Malachi Corley, Devon Reardon, Mikael Vaught, Cole Kidwell, Luke Richards, Lathan Cubit, Mark Rigsby, Zach Harper, Tyler Gribbins, Kelson Griffiths and Ethan Ford.

The season will begin on Friday, Aug. 16, with a scrimmage in Monroe County at 8 p.m.

CHS will play in the Forcht Bank Bowl at Campbellsville University on Saturday, Aug. 24. CHS will take on Casey County at 8:30 p.m.

The first game at the CHS field will be on Friday, Aug. 30, when the Eagles host Adair County at 8 p.m.

Dale Estes is the head football coach.

Assistant coaches are Herb Wiseman, Tyler Hardy, Robbie Gribbins, Bronson Gowdy, Aaron Webb, Will Griffin and D.J. Moore.
